What's the best gift you received this year?

As for material gain, all of my presents were great. From the Smiths t-shirt from Amanda to the basket of goodies from Brian + Heidi, as well as the Outer Limits DVD set from Shawna, it was good stuff all around.

However, sorry to do it, but I must take the sappy road and say the best part was being home + surrounded by my loved ones.

wait, was that asking what x-mas gift or all year? all year, I have to say the 42" LCD HDTV I gots for Father's Day. I could stand to be all alone with that baby to watch...

I have been wanting to update for so long

but maybe I am afraid to tell of all the good news

may jinx it into not being so anymore. . .

last Friday, I had the day off.
unlike the previous fridays that I have called in
or just showed up late with nary an excuse,
I actually had a vacation day scheduled.
as I thought I would have stuff to do.
other than seeing Resident Evil: Extinction
and playing a show that night,
it was an incredibly nice day to not have done anything.

I met Rachy at the movies,
bought her ticket + popcorn + drink.
she got the refills, as I got them the first 13 or 14 years of her life
and now it's PAYBACK!!!!
also, I had to take her cellphone away,
as she has gone well over the shared minutes several times in the past 2 months.
like over $200 over the first month
and maybe a $100 or so this month
and the month isn't yet over. so that was a li'l sad.
she did offer to pay me back
which I said was a good idea.
it is her boyfriend + everyone else who is using the phone inappropriately, not her.
I got it for her, not for them.
letting them use her phone is akin to loaning them her bank card
or MY bank card, really.

so, the movie was OK.
Rachy noted the irony of me wearing my Day of the Dead t-shirt,
as this was definitely influenced by it.
the show later was fun.
we had two totally different but good opening acts.
Rachy made it there and helped Shawna record some video:

raveneye + londubh were in attendance.
it should be noted that she is prob'ly the only person in recent online history
who is actually prettier in person than her uploaded pics.
not that her pics don't look great,
but I always assume everyone does as I do,
choose one that is way more flattering than I really look.
I only hated that we did not have a chance to visit with them more.
maybe they will be free to hang out more next time...

on Saturday, Shawna + I met Rachy + her sisters + my mom for dinner.
Sushi + steak + shrimp done false-Benihana style at the table.
this was for Rachy's actual b-day of 9-22.
some may say it's twice as nice as 9-11 (but not many)
some may note this as the first day af Autumn.
others still may honor this day as Nick Cave's birthday as well.
regardless, my eldest baby turned 19 years of age.
so she is now half my age
if 19 were half of 28 of course....

Sunday, did little, just stayed around the house. 
as the housemate has stated he wants more privacy and doesn't use the teevy,
we moved our 42" LCD to our room
where I promptly connected a DV to HDMI cable from the PC.
since our DVD player + PS2 + cable all seem to be about 480i,
this was the first time we got to see hi-def on it.
so so pretty, even more pretty than real-life stuff would be.
all this time, I thought it was limited to 720p, but it had full 1080i res.
it's like cleaning your glasses that you did not even know were dirty
but they really really really were so very dirty.

today, I am at work.
I am thinking about the local college that needs a new systems admin
and how great my interview for it went
and how cool it was they called me back last week
aaand how great it could be to find a job I like better
that will pay me more.
there was other stuff,
but I am not so sure anyone has made it this far....

I just got my ears lowered a haircut.
will show a pic in the next week or so,
as it was butchered and I want it to fill back in a bit first...

wardrobe? I keep the same clothes forever,
and when I buy new ones,
they look a lot like the old ones...

I'm honestly open to drastic change, just never find much better than what I have.

as much as I hate to answer a question with another question,
WHAT?!?  NO, it's not good. 
I don't care if they live in a fecal castle on the coast of pottytown,
it is bad not only that anyone is concerned about this,

goshdamn you and your so-called competitive sporting teams and so-called athletes. "star power" =  most influential  corporate sponsored steroid-addled whore. why don't you just confront your homoerotic beastial compulsions and screw a gorilla? all jocks should be ground into protein bars and fed to each other, soylent stupid style. quit servicing yourself to Sports Illustrated and go read an actual book, please.
